Mountain West is the latest in DI to remove internal transfer rules

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. Mountain West has repealed its internal transfer rules, becoming the most recent top-flight league to decide it will only comply with the NCAA rules.

Mountain West announced Friday that the conference board had approved a recommendation by the league’s administrators and the Athletes’ Advisory Committee.

The NCAA Division I Board of Directors approved new transfer rules earlier this week that will allow all athletes to transfer once during their careers without leaving competition season.

The Mountain West team has asked athletes moving inside the conference to sit for an extra season on New Year’s required by the NCAA rules.

The Atlantic Coast Conference, the American Athletic Conference, and the Mid-America Conference announced the abolition of the transportation rules within the conferences earlier.
