The National Grand Prix show jumping is moving west this weekend as Gain Alltech, with support from SJI, is sponsoring the series.

Held at the Galway Equestrian, it promises to be a jumping-off weekend with a full schedule of classes.

On Sunday, the Gain Alltech Grand Prix, sponsored by Galway EC, will take center stage with a prize money of € 4,000.

On Saturday, the second round of the ISH Studbook Series Qualifiers should prove to be very competitive. Work on the series will continue early Sunday morning with the finals.

The winner of last week’s tour in Meadows EC, Kildare’s Mikey Pender will chase the points. Binder announced three to jump on the tour. The two current leaders on the board, John Fludi and Mickey Binder, will be watching this week’s actions closely.

There is a good mix of riders on the start roster with local riders looking to claim their victory. Among the Western Knights participating include Olive Clark, Sven Hadley, Darren Hopkins, James Joyce and Gabriel Slatery.

The current National Grand Prix champion will be Derek McConnell with Dothraki Warlord and Izzy. Runner-up at the TRM Showjumpers Club Spring Tour, Robyn Moran, will compete with Coolminga Inspector Royal.
