If you had told me that the James Harden-Kevin Durant-Keri Irving trio would collect 96 points, compared to 50 Jason Tatum and just 6 from Kimba Walker, I would have thought Nets won that match by double figures.
Last night, however, the Boston Celtics led Don Jaylene Brown by double digits with three minutes remaining and beat Brooklyn with a surprise 125-119 win.
Harden had one of his best plays in the playoffs Start, Scoring 41 points and 10 assists on 11 of 18 shots from the field, 7 of 12 from three, and 12 of 13 on free throws. Durant added 39 points, nine rebounds, and four robberies, shooting 13 of 24 from the floor, 4 of 9 from deep, and 9 of 12 on free throws. Irving struggled to finish the match with 16 points on a shot of 6 of 17, and also only scored 2 of 6 out of 3, but even so, the net had 96 points from the respected Big Three in a total of 26 against 53 from a field.
But their role players, a concern for people who didn’t choose them to go to the NBA Finals, as they’d prefer to do, didn’t stop their loss to Boston. It was clearly not the Tatum-Walker tandem that raised Boston’s level, considering how 50 out of 56 points came from one side. In addition to this, Tatum also has 7 assists and 6 rebounds. But Marcus Smart dropped 23 points on 8 of 11, making 5 of 8 out of 3 and adding 6 assists. Tristan Thompson scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Ivan Fournier added 17, to shoot 4 of 7 from the rear.
But for the nets – of the other five who scored – no one got more than eight points. Out of the Big Three, they collectively shot 8 to 25, even as they scored 11 points on the bench to 10. But Joe Harris led all of the “others” by eight. The team, too Without Jeff Green for so longWhich hurts them. (It also says a lot about its depth.)
I look forward
It likely won’t be a big deal for the series, but apart from the Big Three, the networks will need meaningful contributions in order to achieve their seemingly long-standing status like Favorite tournament. To take, to possess This Effort From Hardin and Durant W. still Lose to This The Celtics version is an anomaly. The Nets may not lose another match this season – although it is unlikely, that is still a sincere possibility. But … here comes the trouble: the new-looking Milwaukee Bucks, assuming they finish the Miami Heat tonight, will enter the Bucks Nets semifinals, along with simply being much better than Boston.
even in Absence of Donte DiVincenzo (From Twitter behaves like Tournament swings for them – relax), the Bucks are the most willing to tackle the Big Three in Brooklyn behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. They are also deeper than last year with Brooke Lopez, who is once again playing as a big guy; Bobby Portes, who should have been the sixth man in the competition; Brian Forbes, who scored 47 percent of the three in the playoffs; Pat Connaughton, who is 53 percent of the three in the qualifiers, and BJ Tucker, who will likely transition into any three senior members at some point. This doesn’t mean the Bucks will kick their ass, but it is important to emphasize that they are a much better team (as it relates to playoff basketball) than they were a season ago, which in turn is a much stronger challenge than Boston.
Brooklyn can still beat anyone on any given night in any given streak, but getting those points against Boston, and then, Milwaukee, are two different animals. Last night, they showed they had better discover some new tricks.
