New couples reveal their salaries after eight dates, according to research. But the survey of 2,000 adults found that half believe revealing your income to a new partner is one of the most awkward conversations daters can have. But 55 percent think it’s important to be transparent about earnings at this stage – as 45 percent believe it can build trust. On the other hand, 48 percent of those who disagree want couples to focus on emotional connection rather than finances when romance is in its infancy. The survey was commissioned by Skipton, who has been in London during UK Savings Week with his ‘Money Talks Booth’, challenging couples to take the awkward out of money chat and blindly share their financial confessions with an expert on hand.
