“It looks kind of funny.”
A lighter moment here on #DNC. As we wrapped up an interview here in Chicago, we asked NY Gov @KathyHochul if she wants to try a deep dish pizza.
She passed.

She gave Chicago a pizza.
New York Govt Kathy Hochul wrinkled her nose on the Windy City’s beloved deep-dish Wednesday — claimed she was too much of a “pizza connoisseur” to try a slice.
Hochul slowly shook his head when NY1’s Washington correspondent Kevin Frey asked her to take a bite live on camera during her trip to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention.
With a look of disgust on her face, Hochul took a few seconds to consider before admitting that the record looked “pretty funny.”
“I’m not sure what to make of this. Like, why is it so high? I don’t get it,” she continued, running her finger along the thick crust.
The cop then blamed her lack of interest in the sassy ‘za style on how long it takes to cook — saying an hour is way too long to ask a New Yorker to wait.
“We’re getting hungry. We’re not waiting an hour. We want our pizza made in a minute in New York, so I can just pass this on and I can just wait until I get home for a good old, made in a minute New York pizza, Hochul said.
Although Frey laughed at Hochul’s refusal to nibble on the disc, he once again asked her to take just one bite.
But Hochul again dismissed the reporter’s request.
“No, I’m not sure I will. I have very high standards. I spent five years making pizza in high school,” she said.
“I’m a pizza connoisseur. That’s the size of about three pizzas I would have made.”
Before leaving, Hochul delivered another blow to Chicago-style pizza lovers: “If you want to know about pizzas, talk to me.”
