TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two areas in the Atlantic for possible tropical development.
Forecasters began tracking an area of low pressure located a few hundred miles southeast of Bermuda on Wednesday. It has a 10% chance to evolve in the next 48 hours and a 10% chance to evolve in the next week.
The NHC continued to monitor a tropical wave in the Atlantic that could slowly develop this weekend into early next week as it drifts west-northwest. Its chance of forming in the next 48 hours is close to zero, and its chance of forming in the next seven days is about 20%.
There are signs that the tropics will begin to become more active in the coming weeks. Tropical waves will leave the coast of Africa to more favorable conditions, as expected during peak hurricane season.
