Trinidad and Tobago’s health minister dismissed allegations that a cousin of rapper Nicki Minaj’s friend had become impotent after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, saying health officials in the Caribbean country had found no evidence that any patients had reported such side effects.
“In the situation we are in right now, there are absolutely no side effects or adverse events related to testicular swelling in Trinidad… and nothing that we know of anywhere in the world,” Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Deyalsingh complained that health officials “take all these allegations seriously” for the time they have taken to investigate the claim.
“Unfortunately, we lost a lot of time yesterday denying this baseless claim,” he said.
“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine because his friend got it and he became impotent. His testicles were swollen,” he wrote. “It was weeks before his friend got married, now the girl has called off the wedding.”
