An off-duty NYC sheriff’s deputy was arrested Saturday morning in Manhattan on weapons and menacing charges.
Police said Mackenson Vil was arrested at 3:22 a.m. by officers from the 34th Precinct, which covers parts of Washington Heights and Inwood,
Vil, 38, also served as a special officer for a time, dating back to 2021.
Police said Vil was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, but did not provide further details.
His arrest came at the end of a tumultuous few days for the Sheriff’s Department. The Queens County office was raided Thursday during an investigation into the department’s handling of cash seized from pot shops, It was reported by the Daily News at that time.
Sources told the Daily News that Vil’s arrest was unrelated to the investigation.
