OAKLAND – A local resident was charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a passenger during a car wreck last year, records show.
Roling Hernandez-Dezleiva, 27, was charged in connection with a Nov. 19, 2023, crash in San Leandro. The victim was identified in court records as Jennifer Jiminez.
Charging documents say Hernandez-Dezleiva ran a red light on San Leandro Boulevard in San Leandro, while going 57 mph in a 35 mph zone, and crashed his vehicle, killing Jiminez. He has been released pending the case, with an order from a judge not to “collect any new speeding tickets” while he is out of jail.
At a recent court appearance, Hernandez-Dezleiva was denied entry into a misdemeanor diversion program, but the judge will allow her attorney to bring the matter up again at a future date, according to records.
