A free parole officer shot a gunman WHO opened fire at a Bronx bar early Sunday, injuring a chef, according to reports.
Chaos erupted inside Kutty Bar & Lounge on Boston Road near Mace Ave around 1:45 a.m., police said.
The 40-year-old gunman had been kicked out of the bar, prompting him to go to his SUV and retrieve his gun, according to ABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News. He rushed back into the lounge and opened fire, shooting a 37-year-old chef in the right leg, the station reported.
That’s when the parole officer, who was there as a customer, took action and shot the gunman in the torso multiple times, according to ABC.
The wounded gunman drove off in his white Honda CR-V but only made it a block before crashing into a street light pole at Mace and Wallace Aves.
The gunman was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The chef is in stable condition at the same hospital.
The gunman was involved in a homicide investigation in December 2023, according to ABC. The details of that investigation were not immediately clear.
