A mother was among three people arrested last week after her 6-year-old son was attacked by a pit bull while his hands and feet were handcuffed at an Ohio home, according to police.
The young boy was bitten on the neck and ear on August 17 at 5 pm and was airlifted to a hospital from the Savannah home in serious condition, Ashland County Sheriff’s. Office said.
After the attack, sheriff’s investigators learned the boy’s hands and feet were restrained when the vicious dog fired at him, authorities said.
A search of the house where the attack took place turned up evidence that led to the arrest of the boy’s mother, Angelina Williams, and Robert Michalski Jr., believed to be the boy’s uncle, on Aug. 19, according to a WOIO report.
“I come in, I look at my grandson sitting on the floor and not to whine, but why the hell is he in handcuffs,” the boy’s grandmother told the station. “I said take them away from him now.”
The grandparent reached out to help their grandson and suffered minor injuries during the ordeal.
Williams, who is from Cleveland, lived in the house with a family member of Michalski, who owned the house and the dog.
He was found hiding in an upstairs hole in the home with the dog before being taken into custody.
Michalski and his pooch reportedly fled the home when authorities responded to the incident before later returning.
The mother’s boyfriend, Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown, was also arrested after he allegedly helped restrain the boy, the sheriff’s office said.
The pit bull was also removed by police, according to the sheriff’s office.
Williams is charged with child endangerment, while Michalski was hit with child endangerment and tampering with evidence charges, WOIO reported.
Marvin-Brown is reportedly facing child endangerment and obstruction of justice charges.
