What makes you one of the biggest teenage pop stars in the world? If you’re US President Joe Biden, the answer is simple: a shoehorn.

Olivia Rodrigo, the singer behind the hits “Driver’s License” and “good 4 u”, was and invited to the White House back in July to promote Covid-19 vaccines among young people. During a performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday, Rodrigo revealed that the president had given her some presents when she visited: some M & Ms, a pair of black planes Ray Bans (the the same one he has) and a shoe, “which was weird,” Rodrigo said.

“I did not see it as he gave it to me, it was like in a bag,” Rodrigo said to a very amused Kimmel. “But I liked opening it up and I was like ‘Oh, that’s so cool.’

The shoehorn was not just a shoehorn. It also had the presidential emblem on it, Rodrigo said.

“Well, if you ever thought Joe Biden was too old to be president, now we know he is,” Kimmel joked. “He becomes shoehorn.”

Regardless of the gift, Rodrigo said it would be “such an honor” to go to the White House, especially for “such an important thing.” Still, she said, she was nervous.

“I went there and there are all these plates on which George Washington ate his food and all this crazy stuff,” she said. “I was just scared I was going to bite and break such a tireless artifact. It was crazy. But, going out, nothing broke.”

Rodrigo, a Disney star known for her role in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”, had a breakout year in 2021. Her album, “Sour”, debuted at the top of the chart as it was released in May, featuring many hit singles and billions of streams on Spotify. Their songs have become so popular that the TikTok favorite “driver’s license” has even inspired them a skit on “Saturday Night Live.”
