A portion of Interstate 99 in Center County was closed Friday night after multiple car crashes.
I-99 northbound closed around 6:10 p.m. Friday between Exit 76 (Shiloh Road) and Exit 78A (PA 150 South) following a multi-vehicle crash, according to 511PA. All lanes were closed and at least one medical helicopter was called to the area, according to dispatch reports.
It remained closed between Shiloh Road and 1 mile north of the exit as of 8:20 p.m
Another crash occurred on I-99 southbound between Exit 78A and Exit 73, where there was a lane restriction, according to PennDOT.
The Center County Emergency Alerts and Information Facebook page posted that multiple car accidents occurred in the area. They urged people to avoid the area.
511PA also reported a vehicle fire on I-99 near the Shiloh Road exit. The lanes were open again after the incident at 7 p.m
