Pastor says Van Nuys church was destroyed by a masked person

A masked vandal smashed eight stained glass windows. St in Van Nuys. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church, the church wrote on facebook.

The church, at 17231 Sherman Way, described the damage it said at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday as “an appalling act of vandalism” and noted that the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating using security camera footage taken by the church.

The church said the stained glass damage occurred in the church’s sanctuary, but vandalized “the sign of the neighboring church on our property”.

“Destroying the church is very wrong,” said Nazaret Nalbandian.

“Of course right away, you feel violated,” he added. Priest Snork Demirjian. “Why did this happen?”

Demirjian said that there may be a connection between the timing of this attack and the September 21st Armenian Independence Day.

“I thought it was about that,” Demirjian said.

The church added that no one was injured.

Another church in Van Nuys, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, destroyed earlier this year by a man with a sledgehammer.
