A person of interest remained in Chicago police custody Wednesday in the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl on the day an autopsy ruled her death a homicide.
The slain teenager was identified as Stephani Lopez Ramirez, of Humboldt Park, according to the Cook County Coroner’s Office.
Police found the teenager in an apartment in the 700 block of North Avers Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. She was pronounced dead just after 1 p.m
An autopsy the following day revealed she died of a single gunshot wound through the arm into the chest, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Authorities did not release information about the person in custody, but said no criminal charges had been filed Wednesday afternoon, as Harrison Area detectives continued their death investigation.
