Troopers located and arrested the 53-year-old man in Hingham.
Police arrested Edmund David Chance Jr., a Level 3 sex offender, on Thursday for failing to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board.
Chance, 53, was wanted separately for questioning in an incident Tuesday in which a “suspicious male” driving in Marshfield’s Humarock neighborhood allegedly offered a 17-year-old girl who was jogging a ride in his car, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.
When the teenage girl declined, the man followed her until she ran away and called police, authorities said.
After initially locating Chance after the incident, Marshfield police later determined he did not register when he moved, which is required by law for Level 3 sex offenders, according to officials.
Scituate and Marshfield police then asked the public for help find the chance.
Chance has previous convictions on multiple charges, according to authorities, including rape and kidnapping.
Troopers located and arrested Chance in Hingham for his failure to register and brought him to Hingham District Court to be arraigned.
