A man snuck up and strangled a young woman who bravely fought off her attacker with a back kick to his groin — a harrowing attack that was caught on video, police said Monday night.
On August 22 at 11 p.m., the 25-year-old woman entered her apartment building near Ocean Ave. and Parkside Ave. of Prospect Park when the man snuck up behind her and put his arm around her neck and put her in a choke hold, according to the police who are now searching for the perpetrator.
The woman fought back, kicking him where it hurts and yelling “stop” and “help,” according to police, prompting the man to tell her to “shut up” before he let her go and casually walked away.
The woman, who has not been identified, immediately called 911 but refused to go to the hospital, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All conversations will be kept confidential.
