An officer opened fire during a traffic stop at a vehicle wanted in connection with a homicide in the New City neighborhood Friday night, Chicago police said.
Chicago police attempted to pull over a vehicle wanted in connection with a homicide in the 1700 block of West 47th Street around 5:35 p.m. Friday. An officer fired his gun and struck the vehicle, but no one was hit by gunfire, police said.
The suspect fled but was arrested and taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, according to police.
The details — including a use-of-force investigation — are currently being investigated by the Civilian Police Office, police said, and all officers involved will be on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
