The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world last year as they dramatically left the royal family to seek a new independent life in America. He has recently begun to open up about his struggles with working in the royal family, with Harry recently claiming that his brother William and father Prince Charles were “stuck” within the royal family, but that he managed to leave.
Harry also opened up on feeling “trapped” within the firm during his interview with Oprah in March, adding that he felt unable to get Meghan’s help when he felt suicidal.
He said he felt “compassion” for his brother William and father Prince Charles for being unable to leave their roles while he could.
Harry said: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They are not allowed to go. And I feel very sorry for that.”
Harry also told Oprah that he felt disheartened by his father for cutting him off financially and that there was “a lot of hurt” between them.
He said his family told him to “play the game” and that life would improve.
But he said he refused, as he continued: “I have a hell of a lot of mother inside me. The only way to free myself and get out is to tell the truth.”
And Harry earlier this month talked about Dax Shepard’s desire to end “genetic pain and suffering” in the royal family while promoting his new show on the podcast.
He said: “There is no blame. I do not think we should raise a finger or blame anyone, but certainly when it comes to parents, if I have caused any kind of pain or suffering due to pain or suffering Have experienced maybe my father or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it basically.
“It’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway, so as parents the most we should do is try and say ‘You know what happened to me, I’m going to make sure That this does not happen for you’.
“It’s hard to do but for me it comes down to awareness. I never saw it, I never knew about it, and then all of a sudden I started to piece it together and go ‘Okay, so this is that The place where he went to school, this is what happened, I know this about his life, I also know that it is connected to his parents, so that means he treated me the same way How can I change it for my kids as it was done to him?’
“And here I am, I moved my whole family to America, that wasn’t the plan, but sometimes you make decisions and put your family first and your mental health first.”
