The shooting took place in the 8700 block of Sierra Highway just before 11am on Tuesday. A 44-year-old firefighter was killed and a 54-year-old fire captain was also seriously injured.

Two other firefighters were present at the fire house when the firing took place. Whatever had happened, they were able to alert the LA County Sheriff’s deputies.
The motive of the shooting remains unknown. However, the Los Angeles Times reports that there may have been an ongoing dispute between the shooter and the slain firefighter, who worked different shifts but lived in the same area.
