Sunday evening through noon Tuesday will bring a chance for rain to the Boise area, with potential expected rainfall between a half inch to 1 inch, said National Weather Service Boise meteorologist Jackson Macfarlane.
By Monday night, the chance of rain in Idaho jumps to between 60 percent and 80 percent and will remain that way through Tuesday when the system begins to move out by midday. Another system may come through later this week, but there is uncertainty as to whether it will bring rain.
The rain should cover most of the weather service’s forecast area from southeastern Oregon to McCall to Twin Falls. And there’s a potential chance for storms and light Sunday and Monday night.
“It’s pretty widespread,” Macfarlane said. “That system last week that we really helped calm the fires down. … With the forecast of several days of rain, we were able to really alleviate some of those fires.”
However, there is uncertainty as to whether the rain will be constant or sporadic, so some areas may receive a lot of rainfall and others less.
Next week, temperatures will cool, but it’s not quite fall sweater weather yet. Highs next week will remain “comfortable,” Macfarlane said in the 70s and 60s.
“I wouldn’t expect to see a low close to 40 until probably October,” Macfarlane said.
