Reality TV star and real estate agent Fredrik Eklund has bought an apartment for 3.35 million dollars 64 University Squareaccording to city department of finance records filed this week.
The under-the-radar, newly constructed building comes with 28 units and sold out, off-market, sight unseen “pretty much immediately,” said Eklund, a top broker with Douglas Elliman.
Eklund told Gimme that his fourth-floor apartment is about 1,400 square feet and comes with two bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms. While Miami is now his primary residence, this will be his New York base. “We’re working on the wardrobe and the decor now,” Eklund said.
Eklund’s business partner at Douglas Elliman, John Gomes, bought a similar unit in the building as an investment, Gomes told Gimme.
Both units have hardwood floors, 10-foot high ceilings, and arched double-pane windows that open onto Juliet balconies.
The building also includes two $20 million penthouses that come with terraces and sell for more than $5,000 per square foot, Eklund said.
“This will be one of the downtown ‘it’ buildings,” Eklund said. “There are arched windows and lots of brick – the romance of old New York, but very amenitized. People love it.”
He added that there is already a waiting list of 150 people who want to know if a unit will be available for rent or purchase.
Building perks include a “secret” garden with a waterfall, a gym, a lounge, a rooftop terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a 24-hour doorman.
Added Gomes: “I think this is one of the best projects we’ve ever done. It has great layouts and it’s in a great location. We were there from the beginning and kept it a secret. People are so surprised. It’s taken received very well and I am happy to be a part of it.”
The developers are Argo Real Estate and Bsafal Inc.
