Rafael Devers will avoid surgery on his left shoulder, manager Alex Cora said Sunday morning before the Sox split a doubleheader against the Twins.
Devers underwent an MRI on his left shoulder, which revealed inflammation. His right shoulder has also been bothering him, but the left has caused the most trouble.
“The left one is the one that’s really bothering him, as far as the swing. It’s been going on since spring training,” Cora said. “So, inflammation. Just stay away from him. Rest will do the job. There is no structural damage, there is no talk of surgery or anything. It’s just rest. Obviously there are things he needs to do in the offseason to get back to normal, but at least this is good news.
