The Red Sox are reportedly moving on from their alternate blue jerseys in 2025.
The Red Sox will reportedly create new threads during the 2025 season.
According to MassLive’s Chris CotilloThe Red Sox will retire their blue alternate jerseys this offseason and will unveil a second “City Connect” jersey next summer.
But that doesn’t mean Boston’s popular yellow jerseys are also placed on the clearance rack. Red Sox marketing director Adam Grossman confirmed to Cotillo that these Boston Marathon-inspired jerseys will remain as a core uniform for the team moving forward.
“MLB allows clubs that have a current City Connect jersey the option to redesign it after several seasons,” Grossman told Cotillo. “Given how popular our yellow kits are with our players and fans, we have chosen to keep it as a core uniform offering for the foreseeable future. We will unveil a City Connect 2.0 uniform in 2025 and will no longer wear our blue alternatives sweaters.”
As part of this jersey makeover for the Red Sox, Boston will have their regular home white, alternate home red, road gray and their yellow jerseys in their regular rotation – with the new City Connect jerseys as a fifth option for the team at times. game.
The blue alternate jerseys – worn by Boston when they won their last World Series title in 2018 – will effectively be replaced with the new City Connects – the design of which has yet to be revealed.
During the 2024 season, the Red Sox wore their traditional home whites for every home game at Fenway Park except Fridays (red alternates) and Saturdays (yellow City Connects). Boston wore their road gray from all road games except Fridays, when they donned the now-retired blue alternates.
The Red Sox have had a lot of luck over the years wearing their yellow jerseys – posting a 35-13 record since debuting them in 2021.
