As it promised earlier this week, Sony has unveiled a huge new chunk of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay, and, if you missed it, you can now whet your appetite with the game’s June launch at PS5 by watching the whole thing below.

For the latest adventure with Ratchet and Clank, developer Insomniac takes the twosome on a fine journey into another dimension, one that will supposedly offer a mix of new locations and familiar favorites given an alternative dimension. .

The latest demonstration of Insomniac gameplay begins in one of the new areas, a dazzling, bustling, neon -hued future -metropolis – complete with a sky full of flying cars, naturally – known as the Nefarious City. Upon arrival, Ratchet discovers two things: first, robot friend Clank is gone, and second, some familiar faces live in this strange, new dimension – though not exactly like he knew them in their home.

For example, Dr. Nefarious, was more successful here, being crowned emperor of the city. Meanwhile, Ms. Zurkon, is now a weapon vendor and a newly mint member of the fight – whose number also includes new playful opponent Rivet.

According to Insomniac, one of its goals for Rift Apart is to have a sense of increased mobility, and this is evident in some of the game’s new features. Ratchet’s new traversal capabilities, for example, include a wall-run and dash. The latter is appropriately versatile, allowing chasm-crossing mid-air lunges during platforming and evasion during combat. However, even better is the new ability in Rift Tether, which can be used to scramble with a dimensional tear and teleport instantly to a new area of ​​a battle arena for a better point of view.

Weapons, if you’re wondering, use extensive abductions. The Burst Pistol, for example, lets players accurately place a single shot when the trigger is pulled back, but a full press releases a rapid spread of fire that covers more area. Similarly, a half press on the Enforcer will fire a single barrel while a full press will fire both.

The whole thing, as you can imagine, looks stunning, but the demo takes a particularly good turn once Insomniac moves into a segment involving Rivet and Clank, with the duo finding themselves in a lush jungle planet, full of exotic flora and fauna.

It’s a particularly funny trick, then, when players encounter dimensional lifts that let them elevate themselves almost immediately to completely new, and equally detailed, planets – a trick that a mini-boss known as Nefarious Juggernaut uses amazing results.

It’s worth watching the full 15-minute presentation to see the aforementioned new features in Rift Apart in action, and there’s even a few teasing of other things to come in the closing moments, including explorable open areas, Clank dimensional levels, challenges and arena challenges, aerial battle sequences, pocket dimensions, and, of course, the now mandatory Photo Mode. And if the rest of you are fit to sell in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the full game will arrive on the PlayStation 5 on June 11th.
