Royal Bolton volunteers shortlisted for Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards

Volunteers Sue Povey, Mia Povey, Katie Mainwaring, Laura Sutton and Fran Grundy are members of the Virgin Atlantic flight crew and have worked together on the wards of Royal Bolton Hospital to help. health care assistant and patient liaison roles.

Also on the shortlist are cultural support volunteers Hassan Patel and Imran Musa, who work with the Bolton Council of Mosques to help patients connect with their families.

Looking at the volunteers’ work, ward manager Kim Ashcroft said: “They were extremely supportive, caring and caring, and our patients really appreciated having someone to talk to and help with the little things the staff didn’t always have time to do.”

This year’s awards are aimed at recognizing healthcare professionals who are working hard to improve the health and well-being of Greater Manchester in the city area, with a particular focus on those who have done the most to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic.

In total, 36 people working in the NHS, local governments, charities, nursing homes were shortlisted in 12 different categories.

The winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, November 11th.
