The suspect charged with trying to assassinate Donald Trump on his golf course in Florida wrote a chilling note months earlier declaring his intention to kill the former president, the Justice Department said Monday.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly left the note — addressed to “To the World” — at the home of an unnamed person in the months before the foiled assassination attempt at the West Palm Beach golf course on Sept. 15.
“This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you,” the letter read.
“I tried my best and gave it all I could muster. It’s up to you now to finish the job; and I’ll offer $150,000 to whoever can finish the job.”
An attorney for Routh did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Monday morning.
