SAN JOSE – Authorities announced Monday an arrest in a gang-motivated shooting earlier this summer in San Jose.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Senter Road, San Jose police spokeswoman Stacie Shih said in a news release.
The victim was with friends when the suspect pulled into the lot and got out of his vehicle. The suspect asked the victim about his gang affiliation, brandished a gun and threatened to kill him, according to Shih.
“The suspect then discharged his firearm in the air and fled the scene,” Shih said.
The suspect was later identified as a 33-year-old man from San Jose and a “known and active gang member,” according to Shih. Arrest and search warrants were issued for the suspect.
On September 5, detectives arrested the suspect in San Jose. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges including gang-related assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a gun.
