A woman from Waltham has captured her snapshot of a seagull eating a chip as the face of its new summer campaign in the UK with tech giant Google traveling across the country.

Hannah Huxford took the photo with her husband Ed in Bridlington over the course of a day with an iPhone 3 ten years ago, and ten years later it’s still as popular.

At the time, the image was used on The One Show, Edinburgh Fringe Festival brochures and more.

Now, Hannah says she’s excited to see her image pop up across the UK and can’t wait to see it in person one day soon.

He recounts the creation of the famous image and how this latest development inspired him to continue his passion for photography.

“I was just sitting at the port in Bridlington with my husband and decided to take some pictures of him feeding him chips. I didn’t see the pictures until we got home.

“As soon as I saw it, I thought it was ace. I’ve had a lot of people ask me if it’s been photoshopped over the years, but I can promise you it’s real.

“Some people said that I should stick with my photography, especially my dad, but it was no more than a hobby for me at the time.”

Ten years after the seagull photo, Hannah was approached by a design firm on her social media, which she ignored at first thinking it was a scam.

“I never thought they were serious. I was on vacation when the message came and I ignored it at the time.

“A little while later, I was sent an email by the same company saying that a well-known tech company wanted to use the photo in their advertising campaign.

“It was all so confidential, I had to sign contracts saying I would not disclose whether it was Google that was using the photos or how much I was being paid.

“Finally, I was allowed to tell people and then everyone started sending me pictures of it on UK billboards.

“I was really excited when I first saw it, I couldn’t believe it. I kept telling myself it wasn’t real.

“It was a one in a million opportunity and the idea of having the picture on the billboard didn’t sink in initially.

“The first realization came when my friend in Brighton sent me a picture of one of the billboards, it was such a surreal moment. I just want to see it for myself right now, if I’m being honest.”
