Cambridge Police and Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.
Authorities responded to a “serious” car accident on Memorial Drive Monday night, the Cambridge Police Department said.
The crash, which happened around 5:45 p.m., involved a car and a bicyclist, the department said in a statement.
Massachusetts State Police also responded to the crash and said they are investigating the incident. “Due to the severity” of the bicyclist’s injuries, multiple departments are involved in the investigation, including crime scene workers and detectives, state police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and state police said they and Cambridge police temporarily shut down Memorial Drive Monday night to process the scene.
Photos from the crash reported by WCVB5 show a bicycle that appears to be badly damaged lying in the street, with debris strewn across the road.
State police did not comment on the bicyclist’s condition or whether the driver is cooperating with police.
