The Sharks announced Friday that they had cut three forwards and four defensemen from their preseason roster.
Forwards Mitchell Russell, Lucas Vanroboys and Anthony Vincent were sent to Barracuda training camp, as were defenders Artem Guryev, Braden Hache, Joey Keane and Valtteri Pulli.
Guryev, a 2021 fifth-round draft pick returning from shoulder surgery, played his first year with the AHL club last season, along with Pulli, Russell and Vincent.
Vanroboys signed with the Barracuda late in the season after finishing his college career in Massachusetts and Hache signed in the offseason after winning the Memorial Cup as a member of the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit.
Keane, the Rangers’ 2018 third-round pick, was in San Jose on a tryout after playing in the AHL from 2019-2022 with two games in the NHL, then playing for Spartak Moscow in the KHL.
The Sharks are down to 49 players and will need to trim 26 more before opening the regular season Oct. 10 against the Blues.
