Earlier this year, the Department of Justice reported the FBI’s mistakes during the investigation. The report revealed that the FBI’s Indianapolis branch did not respond to a lawsuit, which led to more than 70 female athletes being sexually abused. Nassar is currently serving a prison sentence of 40 to 175 years after his guilty verdict in 2018 on seven counts of criminal sexual abuse.
Simone Biles also blamed the FBI’s negligence in the case, he said

In addition, the Justice Department report also said that although the FBI initially learned of the allegations of sexual abuse in July 2015, they did not open a formal investigation until more than a year later in October 2016.
According to the report, the FBI also did not properly interview one of the Nassar accusers, neglected to interview other victims and did not inform other authorities about the abuse claims. There have also been reports that several FBI agents have allegedly made false statements during the investigation.
