San Jose, Calif. (KGO) – San Jose Police is giving an update about Monday night’s fatal police shooting.

Last night, protesters demanded justice for the man who was shot and killed by San Jose police officers on Monday night.

Dozens of People March on the Guadalupe Freeway to Police Headquarters. He chanted the name of Demetrius Stanley. He is the man the protesters say was killed by authorities on Monday night.

The protests came hours after San Jose police released surveillance photos. Officials say photographs show Stanley pointing a gun at officers, prompting them to shoot them.

Police say it all started when police say they were investigating an armed robbery and Stanley confronted them. But family members tell our news partner, Mercury News, that this is not the whole story. They say the neighbor’s home security video showed officers in plain clothes, in an unmarked vehicle, and did not declare themselves as police.

The police department says that transparency is being maintained with his family. “Shooting involving officers, persons of color. There are so many questions, people want answers,” said Sergeant Christian Camarillo. We are meeting the family, we are sharing as much information as we can with them.”
