Stephen Nedoroscik, the horse specialist turned one breakout feeling at Paris Games 2024compete Saturday for an Olympic medal in the men’s individual gymnastics final.
Nedoroscik25, will go for gold in the individual horse final – the only one he competes in, but one he does exceptionally well.
In the team event, Nedoroscik scored 14.866 on the horse and played a big part in the Team USA win bronze, the first US men’s gymnastics medal in 16 years. Nedoroscik had the highest score for any event among the U.S. male gymnasts during the team competition.
His qualifying score of 15.200 for the individual event saw Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan top the eight finalists. The event begins at 11:15 a.m. ET.
Since Team USA claimed its bronze medal on Monday, Nedoroscik has become an Olympic darling known as “Pommel Horse Guy.” He has been compared to Clark Kent for wearing dark glasses, which he whips off and transforms into Superman when he mounts the horse, a fan wrote on social media after his win.
Nedoroscik takes all internet memes in stride, tells Entertainment Tonight, “They’re fun. It’s such an honor to be in that position.”
He said he felt positive about his chances of winning a medal on Saturday, saying: “Fingers crossed, I do. I have a good feeling about how this week has gone.”
