Officers were seen crouching behind cars on Dominion Rd in Hamilton, Nawton, on Friday afternoon.
After a siege in which armed officers surrounded a Hamilton home, the cordons were lifted and police left the scene.
An explosion was heard earlier, which neighbors believe police dispersed the gas canisters.
The sound was heard around 4 pm after police cordoned off the house after they saw a man appear armed.
Police were called to a home on Dominion Road in Hamilton, Nawton, at 12:47 p.m. Friday.
While the police with rifles were closing the road to traffic, dozens of police were at the scene.
But at 16.30 the police were leaving and the neighbors were returning to their homes. It is unknown whether any arrests were made.
Earlier, a drone was also set up while the locals waited patiently.
A couple is trying to get back to their home on the promenade – their grown children inside.
The parents told them to lock the doors and stay inside.
They just bought the house 3 months ago and haven’t had any problems since they moved in.
Earlier, a resident in the area said he opened his curtains and saw several police officers outside.
The police, who surrounded the house, called the person inside and said that they were under arrest and that they should go out.
However, the resident said that the person did not cooperate.
