A 14-year-old boy who allegedly brought a loaded gun to Glenbard East High School Monday will be held pending trial, authorities said.
The teenager is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor, according to a news release from DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Police Chief Tom Wirsing.
A student at Glenbard East first reported a loaded 9mm handgun on a boy’s desk Monday afternoon. Lombard police traced the gun to a home in Glendale Heights, where the boy lived. They interviewed the boy and arrested him shortly after, according to the press release.
Judge Demetrios Panoushis ordered the teenager held until his next court date, Tuesday, the release said.
