The star American gymnast, who returned to the Olympics this summer, is again a multiple medalist and won gold in the team all-around and a bronze i Individual all-round competition.

“From being told I could never do gymnastics again to winning my 5th Olympic medal!!” she wrote in her caption of the emotional post.
“This medal goes deeper than gymnastics,” Lee added. “I can’t even begin to express how much my health has taken from me and the strength it has taught me, so to be here is the greatest accomplishment of all. grateful for the opportunity to represent Team USA at my second Olympic Games! thank you for everything support.”
Leeward said in a cover story for SELF in October last year that she had unexpectedly woken up with swollen ankles and thought it was due to intense training in early 2023.
“I just got more swollen … and I think I gained about 40 pounds,” she said. – The swelling immediately affected her training. “I kept peeling the bar off. I couldn’t hold myself. My fingers were so swollen.”
More tests were required, but as the kidney problems grew, Lee then withdrew from competing collegiately, as she had been a top gymnast at Auburn and won an NCAA title for her performance on the balance beam in 2022.
But now she competes internationally again and shines.
She will compete in the uneven bars and balance beam finals on Saturday and Sunday, giving her a shot at more Olympic hardware.
