How Taylor Swift highly anticipated album Red (Taylor’s Version), the newly recorded version of their 2012 album, dropped off at midnight on Friday, the 11-time Grammy-winning singer made back-to-back late-night appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the Late night with Seth Meyers, where she discussed the 10-minute version of her acclaimed song “All Too Well.”

Op The Tonight Show, Swift shared how the song started as an ad-libbed jam session with her band during a “sad time” in their lives.

“I showed up at the rehearsals and I was just really excited, and sad, and everyone could say, it was really, like, not fun to be around me that day,” explained Swift, who continued, “So I started playing guitar and just playing the same four chords over and over again. And I just started, sort of, the band got a little hooked, and I started to ad-live what I was going through, and what I felt, and it went on, and the song went on and on and on in the intensity, and the song just went on, you know, 10 to 15 minutes of us doing that.

Swift then explained how she proceeded with her regularly scheduled rehearsal, but it was her mother who asked the Sound Guy if he would record the session. Luckily, he did it and handed her mother the CD.

Fortunately, that specific emotional chapter in her life is over, and beyond Late night with Seth Meyers, Swift said how much better experience it would be to record “All Too Well” this time.

“Back then I was, like, honestly, really sad. Because I was actually going through, you know, the things I was singing about. But this time I wore sunglasses and a mojito and just, like, it’s chill this time. “It’s really nice to put out this album and not be sad not to, like, take breaks between interviews to cry. I’m telling you, it’s much better that way,” Swift told Meyers. .

Fans have always speculated that the song, which was originally released in 2012, is about her ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. While Swift did not officially confirm whether this was true or not, as Meyers asked, “I wonder if there are people who think they are the ones you sang about, whether it’s easier or far, much more. bad for her 10 years later, “Swift replied,” I did not think about her experience, to be honest. ” Meyers laughed as he said, “I think this is the biggest burn. I think there is nothing they would rather hear less.”
