Here Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso approaching a season 4 renewal.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV has been showering the choices on original actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldsteinand Jeremy Swift.
Jason Sudeikis will likely be involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer. Still, he’s unlikely to be a central focus of the new season after the events of Season 3.
As Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift are UK Equity members instead of US SAG-AFTRA members, news of their contracts was revealed first. SAG-AFTRA cast negotiations will be next to happen.
There has been talk of a potential Ted Lasso revival since the show ended with its Season 3 finale in May 2023.
Back in January, Warner Bros. TV CEO Channing Dungey kept the door open to the possibility of expanding the series.
“I mean, you saw the final, there’s a little bit of a door that can be opened again if needed,” Dungey told Amount. “I wouldn’t put a period at the end of that sentence yet. There’s still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think there’s still a lot of enthusiasm on Apple’s part for ‘Ted Lasso.’ Should the opportunity arise, we would be excited to jump back into doing more… There are always conversations going on, just nothing official.”
Ted Lasso follows Sudeikis as its title character, a small college football coach from Kansas who has been recruited to coach a struggling professional football team in England, despite having no football coaching experience. Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, The Temple of Junoand Phil Dunster also star.
The series was based on a recurring comic NBC Sports sketch that Sudeikis directed, which involved some of the same characters. The Apple TV+ series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill LawrenceHunt and Joe Kelly.
Apple TV+ has yet to make an official announcement about a Season 4 renewal.
