An arraignment date has not yet been set for the Mashpee teenager.
A Barnstable County jury has indicted a Mashpee teenage driver on charges following a car crash that killed a 17-year-old and seriously injured another occupant earlier this summer, according to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
Jack Burns, 17, is charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle resulting in death, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, the office said.
An arraignment has not yet been set for Burns in Falmouth Juvenile Court.
During the early morning hours June 25Burns was driving a Toyota RAV4, carrying seven teenagers, when he crashed it into a tree along Carleton Drive in Mashpee.
Nolan Barra 17-year-old from Mashpee, died as a result of his injuries from the crash. Police reported that five others, including a teenager who was seriously injured, suffered injuries.
Barr was a rising senior at Mashpee Middle-High School, known for his wit, charm and devotion to sports, including football and basketball.
