The American Film Institute’s annual documentary celebration of AFI Docs will once again give movie fans the opportunity to watch documentaries online, and will welcome a limited number of festival-goers to Silver Spring’s Stored AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center. Passes are sold today for virtual experience. Individual tickets for personal screening and for the opportunity to sit at home are sold out on June 8th. AFI Docs will be held June 22-27, 2021.

AFI President and CEO Bob Ghazal said, “FII is committed to both the relentless magic of in-person screening and the huge accessibility of virtual offers, which last year allowed AFI Docs to reach out to festival-goers in all 50 states.” Said Gazelle. “Film lovers across the country now have two options available. We look forward to the best celebration of what the documentary art form is offering.”

Now in its 19th year, the AFI Docs will be held June 22-27. The festival program will include world premieres and will be done similarly by master and budding filmmakers. Last year, AFI Docs presented a successful, full-virtual festival with 59 films from 11 countries, opening with Apple and A24’s Boyce State and concluding with the world premiere of Jimmy Carter Rock and Roll President, with President Jimmy. Carter ended with a surprise conversation

Passes can be purchased now Docs.fi.com. Initial bird prices will be available until June 1. Individual and in-person screening tickets will be available June 8.
