The renovation of the Allie Clark sports complex is taking a big step

SOUTH AMBOY – The City Council has awarded a contract for the renovation of the Allie Clark sports complex.

The $ 3.2 million contract was awarded to Land Tek Group Inc. on Monday night. in Bayshore, New York.

Home to the South Amboy Youth Athletic Association for decades, three existing courts at the baseball complex will undergo a complete reconstruction, including LED lighting and scoreboards, artificial turf and other facilities to enhance the family-friendly atmosphere of the complex, according to city officials.

Designed by city engineer Mark Rasimowicz, the renovation will improve playability and safety for the city’s children and visiting teams, city officials said.

Construction is scheduled to begin in several weeks and will be completed in the summer of 2022, according to city officials.

A $ 1.5 million grant from Middlesex County’s Open Space Recreation and Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund was awarded to the city for the project earlier this year. The city will pay the remaining costs of the project, according to city officials.

“These improvements will provide our children with a state-of-the-art facility, and I am grateful that it has the support of the Middlesex County Board of Commissioners as well as the City Council,” said Mayor Fred Henry.
