Seattle has been selected to host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2023, sources familiar with the decision told ESPN on Tuesday.
Plans to bring the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby back to T-Mobile Park, which last hosted it in 2001 when it was known as Safeco Field, are ending, according to sources. MLB declined to comment, saying it would not confirm Seattle was the choice.
MLB already had two future All-Star pages on the books: Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles next year and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia during the 2026 season. The league moved the All-Star Game in 2021 from Atlanta to Denver after Georgia passed new voting laws .
T-Mobile Park, a retractable jewel that is almost a quarter of a century old but still considered one of the best stadiums in the game, has gone almost 20 years without a game of great importance, as 2001 was also the last year, the sailors made the playoffs.
