Washington: A US warship failed to intercept a medium-range ballistic missile test target on Saturday (May 29th), the US Missile Defense Agency said.
“The purpose of this test was to demonstrate the ability of an Aegis to configure ballistic missile defenses to detect, track, engage and intercept a medium-range ballistic missile target,” the agency said in a statement.
Without further ado, it was stated: “However, no interception was obtained.” It is not mentioned where the test was performed.
The MDA, the agency under the Department of Defense, routinely conducts missile defense tests. It has previously conducted successful interception tests using a variety of SM-6 missiles.
