The view was missing from many TV screens this morning as ABC cut to breaking news surrounding the impeachment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams — and fans of the long-running daytime talk show weren’t happy about it.
For many in the New York City area, the breaking news started earlier The view began airing, meaning fans were unable to watch any of the morning’s broadcasts. Meanwhile, other broadcast areas were interrupted mid-program to broadcast breaking news, including a speech by Adams – who is charged with bribery and fraud — as well as his supporters, many of whom were loudly interrupted by protesters in the audience.
Today’s episode would have marked the first taping since then The view made history with the president Joe Bidens appearance on Wednesday (Sept. 25), making him the first sitting POTUS to participate in a live interview on the show. Plus, Wanda Sykes and West wing stars Martin SheenMelissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack were scheduled to appear on this morning’s episode.
Fans of the show were unsurprisingly pissed off at ABC’s decision to air Adams’ speech instead The view.
“Preempting a BS statement from the mayor is a very bad decision that is not newsworthy,” one wrote. “No other network does it. Can’t watch my favorite show.”
Another added“ABC just canceled The view to file charges against NY’s mayor. That news could have waited for the dinner news,” while a third person smoked“Come on ABC News. Stop the breaking news already!!! This special report could have waited until
Someone else said“Yes, it works The view for the rest of the show. Apparently, the network couldn’t wait until newstime to report on Eric Adams. So sick of the show being interrupted by news that could have waited 40 minutes to run at regular news time.”
A fifth person asked“Why does #ABCNews suddenly have to break into #TheView and interrupt my morning ritual? No other station interrupts normally regular programming. Why? What’s up with that? Suspicious to me.”
The view airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
