A WOMAN’s body was found buried in concrete at a construction site after a builder noticed the sick stench of her body.
Joice Maria da Gloria Rodrigue, 25, was found naked with a T-shirt wrapped around her neck when police arrived at the scene in the Brazilian city of Sao Vicente and punched a hole in the wall.
The victim, who was a student, lived with her husband and two daughters, was reported missing on September 27.
Her body was found eight days later and police quickly arrested two suspects – a 56-year-old bricklayer and a 35-year-old contractor who both worked at the construction site.
The contractor denied the crime, but the bricklayer soon admitted that he had killed the young woman and hidden her body.
According to local media, he also told police that he had sex with the woman before she died.
However, detectives have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault and are waiting for the conclusions from the autopsy to determine if any crime of a sexual nature has been committed.
Police Chief Thiago Nemi Bonametti, who is leading the investigation, believes that there was a quarrel on the spot between the young woman and the entrepreneur.
According to Bonametti, it was the contractor who started suffocating the woman before he asked for help from his colleague.
After killing the woman, the two suspects are believed to have hit her in the wall.
It is believed that the two men continued to work at the site for several days as if nothing had happened.
Police also seized plastic containers used to store cocaine and a bag of lingerie from the crime scene.
The two men remain in preventive custody when the investigation continues.
