A few scattered severe storms started Friday afternoon across north Georgia, downing trees and power lines and forcing the TOUR Championship to be shut down due to lightning.

Thousands of people are without power across metro Atlanta. Walton Electric is reporting about 3,000 outages in Gwinnett, Rockdale, DeKalb and Walton counties.

I-75 NB in Bartow County is closed after lightning struck a tractor trailer, causing the truck to drop its load on the highway.
A car also fell into a tree in Adairsville, according to Bartow County Fire Emergency Services. It is unclear if anyone has been injured.
