Three candidates went on to Alaska General Election to represent the state’s At-Large Congressional District on Tuesday, according to a call from the Associated Press.
Alaska has a partisan ranked primary system that selects the four candidates with the most votes, regardless of party, to advance to the general election.
Tuesday’s primary saw 12 candidates vying for a spot in the top four, including incumbent Rep. Mary Peltola, D-Ala., who advanced to the general election with 50.7% of the vote.
Republican Nick Begich, who is running for the seat against Peltola in 2022, finished 2nd with 26.8%.
Republican Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom, who was endorsed by former President Trump, was the third-place candidate with 19.9% of the vote in the Last Frontier primary.
