Governor of Minnesota Tim Waltzthe vice president’s new vice president Kamala Harrisbrutally mocked the former president Donald Trumpcriminal record during his first campaign meeting with Harris.
Trump was convicted in May of 34 felonies for trying to illegally influence the 2016 presidential election, which he won, by falsifying business records to hide potentially damaging “hush money” paid to the porn star Stormy Daniels. He also faces two other pending criminal cases.
During a packed event with Harris in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Walz accused Trump of being “too busy serving himself” to serve as president, before turning to the ex-president’s record of crime while in office. He then elicited extended cheers from the crowd and chants of “lock him up” by mentioning Trump’s personal criminal record.
“Donald Trump sees the world a little differently than we do,” Walz said. “He doesn’t know the first thing about service. He doesn’t have time for it, because he’s too busy serving himself. Over and over and over Trump weakens our economy to strengthen his own hand. He mocks our laws, he creates chaos and division.”
“And make no mistake, violent crime was up under Donald Trump,” Walz continued. “That doesn’t even count the crimes he committed!”
Newsweek reached out to the Trump campaign via email Tuesday night for comment.
