Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz’s approval rating has increased since he was announced as vice chairman Kamala Harris‘ running buddy, while Donald Trumpelected Ohio Senator JD Vance have seen his fall.

A YouGov poll conducted on August 8, two days after Harris announced Walz as her choice, showed him to have a net rating of +11. That was up from a +1 net rating in another YouGov poll conducted at the end of July.

Meanwhile, Vance has seen his approval rating drop in recent weeks. The RepublicanNet favorability was -6 in a YouGov poll conducted between 15 and 19 July, and fell further to -9 in another poll conducted between 22 and 25 July.

The latter survey was conducted as Vance received backlash over comments he made in 2021 referring to some female Democratic politicians as “childless cat ladies” with “no direct stake” in the country.

This is a breaking story. More to follow.
